Sterling and Wilson Start Work on Zambian Solar Plant

Sterling and Wilson, an engineering firm out of India, began work on the project to build a 54-MW solar power plant in Kafue province of Lusaka, Zambia.

The solar plant’s infrastructure extends over 52 hectares and is expected to be completed within the next eight monthsat a cost of $60 million.

This project is part of the government’s strategy to diversify the country’s electricity sources, which is currently dominated by hydropower. Zambia hopes to install 600 MW of solar power capacity within the next two to three years.
