Sweet Deal for Sudan with Ethanol Plant Underway

Sudan President Omar Al-Bashir inaugurated the country’s first ethanol plant at the Kenana Sugar facility. The plant is expected to produce 65 million liters of biofuel, and it is expected to reach 200 million liters within two years.

Al-Bashir noted that similar projects were on the horizon including the White Nile Sugar and Asalaya factories.

A delegate member to Kenana Sugar Company, Mohammed Al-Mardi Atejani, affirmed that ethanol fuel comes within the company’s greater sugar projects, adding that the new ethanol plant will open the door for biofuel and will also be a new addition to non-petroleum exports, stating that land preparation and rehabilitation of irrigation pumps in the White Nile Projects have already been finalized to promote agriculture.

Sudan is expected to be among top ethanol producers, according to economic reports, which is predicted to contribute to natural solutions to the present world energy and food crisis.
