Talks Again of an East African Power Pool

East African countries are once again meeting to discuss a possible coalition – the East African Power Pool (EAPP), with the review of the World Bank-financed East African Power Master Plan which was completed in 2005. The review is expected to last 15 months.

Although Tanzania and Uganda are currently not a part of the proposed EAPP, the two are participating in discussions and are included in the East African Power Master Plan.

In March, Alternative Energy Africa announced the African Development had agreed to invest in a study that is expected to cost €1.7 million in order to establish the estimated $1 billion project. (Ready, Set, Go for East African Power Pool). Six East African countries had at that time teamed up to form the coalition.
