Tanzania Project Releases Master Template

The CD4CDM-Tanzania Project has announced the release of a “master template” including data on the GHG Emission Factor for the National Electricity Grid of Tanzania. The project is funded by the Government of the Netherlands and implemented by the UNEP Risoe Center, in partnership with EPMS Ltd. and CEEST Foundation.

Risoe stated in a release: “The figures reflect the best state of knowledge and a common understanding among a number of actors involved in CDM development there of correct application of the ‘Tool to calculate the emission factor for an electricity grid’ developed by the Methodology Panel. The master template has been developed by UNEP Risoe and its partners as a "public good" for all interested parties seeking to expand CDM investment in Tanzania.”

The country currently only has one registered CDM project with more projects under development like the Mtoni Landfill gas capture and energy generation Project, the use of Biolatrine for methane capture and destruction at five Prisons in Arusha, Moshi, and Tanga, Biomass Co-Generation Project, Tanga  Cement, T  Ltd., and Fuel Switching from the use of gen sets  to natural gas in Mtwara and Lindi, just to name a few.
