Tanzania’s National Development Corp. (NDC) has signed a deal worth about $120 million with a wind energy company which will see the installation of a wind farm in the Singida region.
This will be the first wind farm in the country which will add about 50 MW of energy to the national power grid. Tanzania’s energy demand stands at 900 MW, while it only produces 800 MW.
Currently, the East African country produces most of its electricity from hydropower, while also generating nearly 300 MW of energy from natural gas from its SongoSongo Island.
