German software developer doppelintegral is launching a new version of its renewable energy simulation program, Integrated Simulation Environment Language (INSEL).
The system will be used by professionals and end-user customers providing a meteorological database of 2,000 international locations as well as simulation parameters of all solar modules, inverters, and thermal collectors. Instead of six, the new model now calculates with 10 parameters.
The new version includes measurement data of thin-film solar cells, as well as crystalline solar modules. As the shape of the IV curves of thin-film cells has stronger irradiance dependence than crystalline cells, they require more parameters for the simulation process. “With our newly developed analytical model, we have managed to reduce the failure rate of simulating thin film modules to about zero percent”, said Jürgen Schumacher, founder and managing director of doppelintegral.
