Following its participation in the summit of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), that took place in India, Togo secured $40 million in funding for a rural electrification project using PV solar kits.
The news of the project funding was revealed by ThièmBolidjia, Director General of the Togolese Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Agency.
Specifically, the new project targets 350 villages and will allow its inhabitants, through individual kits, to benefit from the lighting, but also to have a television, a radio and ability to recharge laptops. Operational status is planned within six to 12 months.
