US-based Talus Renewables has deployed its first modular, containerized ammonia and fertilizer production system in Kenya. Located just outside the capital Nairobi, the new Talus Renewables plant will use power from an on-site solar farm to produce 1 tonne per day of fertilizer.
A 15-year off-take agreement has already been signed with Kenya Nut for this first plant. Talus has also designed a 10-tonne-per-day facility (requiring 11.5 MW of solar power input).
ISM Containers partnered with Talus to provide civil and engineering solutions, as well as containerized housing for their equipment.
The Kenya Nut facility is is the world’s first modular green ammonia plant and Talus has plans to replicate the system in western markets, having secured $22 million in Series A funding recently.
