Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation visited the UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs on May 5 to discuss further bilateral relations. UAE’s Anwar Gargash urged the African nation to develop their bilateral relations, hoping that the bauxite mining project currently under construction would be completed soon.
Other countries have used renewable energy endeavors to tap into Africa’s mining sectors, and the UAE has plans to deploy solar in Sierra Leone. The ministers also discussed the recently awarded IRENA/ADFD “Solar Park Freetown Project”. The $18-million solar park project will pump 6 MW of power into the country’s grid.
