Uganda’s FT Bank Enters Renewable Financing Market

Uganda’s Finance Trust Bank (FTB) is looking to become the bank of choice for the energy sector. Towards that goal it will be collaborating with the Uganda Energy Credit Capitalization Company (UECCC) to assist disadvantaged clients in gaining access to electricity through solar energy loans.

Through this arrangement, called Solar Yange (my solar), bank customers will be able to purchase solar facilities for either homes or commercial establishments through the loan from FTB.

The solar energy loan will be implemented in the two districts of Lwengo and Gomba, in the central region of Uganda.

The UECCC has also partnered Uganda’s Centenary Rural Development Bank, Pride Microfinance Bank, and Finance Trust Bank to expand access to renewable energies.
