This includes the reliability of safety critical systems that must work on demand to protect people, the asset and the environment. It is not about maintaining asset equipment such as pumps and compressors etc. to ensure they keep going. That kind of asset management is simply concerned with appropriate maintenance and sparing to maintain the operation of the asset. The focus is on the integrity issues that may cause major disasters such as the BP Texas City Refinery.
