US Firm Starts Feasibility Studies for Solar in Ghana

International Solar Utilities (ISU) started feasibility studies for solar parks that will add 600 MW to the national grid in Ghana’s Akatakyi region.

ISU is expected to construct a PV mono-crystalline solar panel factory at Tema set to start in June. The factory, costing around $85 million, will produce 820,000 solar panels annually. The company secured 800 acres of land for the construction and each solar park would occupy 400 acres. The parks will have access to the existing 116 kV transmission line already present deriving from the Akosombo hydropower plant.
