USTDA Gives Uganda Grant to Study Biofuels Viability

The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has issued a grant to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development in Uganda, worth $572,000, to analyze the market potential for biofuels in Uganda.

The grant is expected to provide cost-benefit analysis on potential biofuel resources and technologies, as well as advise on appropriate industry regulations and potential incentives for the development of biofuel production.

"This grant supports Uganda’s renewable energy policy and enhances the Government’s efforts to design a regulatory framework that will increase energy security without jeopardizing the country’s food supply," US Ambassador Steven Browning was quoted as saying in Kampala’s New Vision newspaper.
