Senegal will prevent an estimated 18,919 tons of CO2 from being discharged into the atmosphere when planned solar PV plants are installed. According to reports, Vinci Energies will install eight PV power plants in the West African country over a period of 10 months.
Vinci Energies was selected through its energy transition brand, Omexom, by the National Electricity Company of Senegal (Senelec), for this project which is scheduled to be delivered in July 2018.
The project will cost an estimated €26.8 million, which will be provided by German bank KFW and Senelec.
“We are proud to support Senegal in achieving its energy transition goals. Thanks to our local teams, we have been able to mobilize the resources and skills needed to carry out this project, which will be implemented in record time of ten months,” said Yves Meigné, CEO of Vinci Energies.
