The Volta River Authority of Ghana has cut sod for the 17-MW Kaleo / Lawra Solar Project located in the Upper West Region.
The project, which forms part of the first phase of VRA’s Renewable Energy Program, is the second utility-grid-connected Solar Project, after the 2.5MW Solar Power Plant commissioned in 2013 at Navrongo.
KfW, the German a development bank, is funding the project through a loan agreement between the governments of Germany and Ghana.
Elecnor S.A. from Spain has been contracted to construct the project, with Tractebel Engineering of Germany serving as the Project Consultant.
