Solar Impulse 2 (Si2), which took off from China on its seventh leg of an around the world journey just a few days ago, had to cut the journey short due to bad weather. The seventh leg of the journey around the world was to take the Si2 to Hawaii.
The plane made it to Nagoya, Japan before having to land to wait out the weather. At the time the Japanese Transport Ministry and Nagoya airport officials said that they were arranging for the landing to occur after the airport’s usual closing hours to accommodate the plane with a wide wingspan.
This is not the first weather delay the Si2 has had to endure during the journey; it was also delayed from taking off from its sixth leg of the journey in the Chinese city of Chongqing.
