Wind Industry: Meet RENEXPO in Romania

Press Release

The Wind industry meets in Romania at
 RENEXPO® South-East Europe 2008 on November 19th, 2008

The Institute for Studies and Power Engineering together with REECO will organize on the 19th of November 2008, in Bucharest, the First International Conference with the topic „Wind Energy in Romania.

The event was initiated by REECO RO Expoziţii, member of the REECO Group from Germany, and will be held within the International Trade Fair RENEXPO® South-East Europe „International Trade Fair and Conference for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficient Construction and Renovation”, at Sala Palatului Conference Centre, Bucharest.

The main goals of this event are to encourage foreign companies and investors to more aggressively become involved in the Romanian energy and infrastructure market and to identify legislative, financial and technical pros and cons in developing and implementing clean and innovative technologies that increase the efficiency and reduce environmental impacts.

The background:

The century challenge lies in addressing environmental concerns while sustaining economic growth and satisfying the demands of improved life quality.

In the nearest future, on the background of the new integrated European legislative framework “energy-climate change” and Japan 2008 G8 Summit, Europe, in particular Romania, will meet, for sure, additional requirements related especially to renewable energy and GHG emissions.

How competitive can renewable energy options become? Are local administrations prepared for observing EU assumed commitments? Is the local transmission and distribution network infrastructure prepared to manage new installed capacities in wind farms? These are only few of the challenges that we are inviting you in to answer together with us.

We believe that energy policy aimed at long term affordability, clean environment, sustainability and security must be focused on a wide mix of renewable energy options – solar, wind, small-hydro, biomass and others.

Issues to be considered:

§  Policies, regulations and standards in Romania, related to the promotion and development of wind farms, having in view the new EU Directives

§  Romanian wind energy potential – evaluation of the current status in wind energy

§  Transmission and distribution network infrastructure

§  Local financial support – financial mechanisms based on the mechanisms developed under the Kyoto Protocol, such as: Joint Implementation (JI); Emission Trading Scheme (ETS); Clean Development Mechanisms (CDM)

§  Learning from similar experiences in wind energies technologies implementation, success stories in some of the new EU entries and/or countries with tradition in RE

§  Cooperation opportunities

Targeted participants:

Governmental representatives and Regulatory bodies; International Organisation and Financial bodies – representatives in Bucharest; Power Utilities; NGOs and Professional Organisations in the power field; Large and medium sized industries; Municipalities; local and foreign ESCOs; Projects and Technologies Developers; Manufacturers; Investors.

We appreciate and salute the initiative of REECO, hoping to be able to transform together with ISPE this technical and commercial conference into an opened debate for all key players in the market to better understand local needs and provide optimum integrated solutions.
