The World Bank has agreed to give $90 million to support projects to ensure clean and affordable water in Niger, falling under the country’s Urban Water and Drainage Program (PEAMU).
The loan will provide residents of Niamey, Agadez, Arlit, Tahoua, and 23 other semi-urban areas with clean water. "The construction of about 1,000 water collection points will enable about 235,000 people and about 60,000 schools to have access to clean water," according to the statement by the World Bank’s director of operations in Niger, Ousmane Diagana.
