World Bank Limits Coal Funding

The World Bank has announced that it would limit funding of coal-fired power plants except if the country had no other alternative sources of energy.

The new alterations to its lending structure are making an effort to curb the building of large-scale coal-fired power plants in emerging economies like India and South Africa. The Bank has been investigating its internal procedures related to the $3.75 billion loan approval to support South African state-owned utility’s Medupi plant.
