The World Bank’s newly appointed chief technical specialist for renewable energy and energy efficiency Daniel Kammen addressed complaints that the organization was sluggish, but said that this wasn’t just a World Bank problem.
He told Reuters at the Global Climate and Alternative Energy Summit that the organization had a “new awareness that action is needed more quickly, and not just at the World Bank.” Kammen’s main goal is to increase clean energy development and deployment. He said, “If we don’t scale up, we don’t get there in terms of the twin goals of development and environment.”
