The Heroes of the Nation – Kenya’s largest orphanage – is building a new campus in Nairobi that will care for 1,000 orphans as well as highlight new ideas in renewable energy, economic development, free online education, technology distribution, micro/macro business, and responsible agricultural technology.
Andrew Sievright developed the model after seeing the crisis of children at risk in Africa as well as the need for a new approach to economic development. He has observed, "The ever growing number of AIDS orphans demands a new approach to the way that orphanage campuses are structured. We must find new vehicles for human transformation, establishing technological, environmental and social solutions to influence communities, cities and nations." Through its self-sustainable model, the Heroes Empowerment Campus can truly be replicated all over the world.
