Optimized service portfolio: Voith uses smartphone technology in hydroelectric power station
- New service app enables direct contact
between customers and Voith Hydro service team
- Digital solution for immediate assistance
- Photos, videos, sound recordings and GPS data
make troubleshooting easier
Heidenheim. Technology group Voith is launching a new form of digital dialog with its customers from the hydroelectric power sector. Effective immediately, the company is offering a free smartphone app, which enables technicians as well as operations and maintenance staff from hydroelectric power plants to communicate with the Voith service team via smartphone. Emergencies and general service inquiries can thus be responded to even more quickly than before. As a digital solution for immediate assistance, the app is especially suitable for hydroelectric power plants in hard-to-reach areas, which can take a long time for service personnel to get to.
The new service app for smartphones is available for iOS and Android operating systems and, to begin with, is available in German, English, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. “Our new service app is initially designed for the European and African hydroelectric power markets. Additional languages for the global hydroelectric power markets will follow by spring 2018,” explains Jürgen Häckel, Head of Service at Voith Hydro Germany.
In order to make troubleshooting and the service process as easy as possible, the new service app from Voith includes a function to attach photos, videos and sound recordings to the inquiry. The additional transmission of GPS data to the power plant’s information allows Voith’s service team to precisely pinpoint the problem. Personal contact can be assured via a call-back function.
“With the help of the new smartphone app, we give our customers – especially those in remote regions – the opportunity to send quick and uncomplicated inquiries about wear and replacement parts or services to our service team. This improved response time can help to avoid downtimes and emergency situations at hydroelectric power plants,” says Jürgen Häckel.
