EDF to Build Biomass Plant in Côte d'Ivoire

EDF will build a biomass plant in Côte d'Ivoire using vegetable waste from the production of palm oil as feedstock. The company plans to invest $10 million developing the project.

EDF already has a strong presence in the country’s renewable energy sector and plans to supply more than 20,000 customers in rural areas with power by the end of 2017.  

“We started 9 months ago, Provision of solar kits in rural areas. In Soubré, we have already connected 3,000 customers and we target 20,000 customers by the end of the year,” said EDF official Simone Rossi at the end of a meeting with the Ivorian prime minister.
