Algeria is currently negotiating with Spain to export to it, part of the electricity produced. This information was revealed by Mustapha Guitouni, the Algerian Minister of Energy.

"We will export electricity to Spain. The ongoing negotiations relate, inter alia, to the taxation to be applied. It is high time for the Sonelgaz group to develop its export business, as Sonatrach has already done, to boost its investments and be less dependent on the state, "said Guitouni.

This allows the company to exploit all of the country's electricity production. Currently, between 5,000 and 7,000 MW  that are under-exploited.

In addition to the Spanish market, Algeria is considering the possibility of exporting to other European countries and neighboring African countries such as Tunisia and Libya.

Algeria currently produces 20,000 MW of electricity.
